We use water based inks !!
Shirt Quality plays an important role in DTG Printing. We use nothing but Quality ring spun 100 % Cotton T-shirts. We try to stay away from Gildan and Hanes for this printing method. Polyester is also not a good fabric for DTG Digital Printing. Weight of shirts will be different. We can use 4.4 ounce upon special request but usually use 5.3 or 6.1 oz shirts. Depending on the brand that we use. There is also a 5.6 ounce shirt that we use that is great quality
When will we use DTG Printing ?
The Process of DTG Printing
For White or light Color shirts the shirt is first pressed for about 15 secs to remove any moisture in the shirt and to rid of any wrinkles. Then the shirt is loaded onto the printing table. Then the settings are setup and can vary on different graphics. Then it is time to print the Tshirt. After about a minute the print is finished. The T-shirt will then be removed from the printer to the heat press. The shirt is then pressed. The amount of time depends on the ink being used.
For Dark color shirts the shirt is first sprayed with a pretreatment. The Pretreatment is for the White ink that will need to be used to print on dark colored apparel. Then the shirt will be pressed for about 30 secs to cure the pretreatment and remove any leftover moisture in the shirt and to rid of any wrinkles. Then the shirt is loaded onto the printing table. Then the settings are setup and can vary on different graphics. Then it is time to print the Tshirt. After about a three minutes the print is finished. The T-shirt will then be removed from the printer to the heat press. The shirt is then pressed. The amount of time depends on the ink being used.
